How Long to Ship a Package from the U.S to Zimbabwe via USPS

I recently purchased a Kindle Paperwhite on eBay from a seller who is in the United States and got the package shipped to Zimbabwe via the United States Postal Services (USPS). So, how long did it take to ship a package to Zimbabwe from the United States via USPS?

When was the package shipped? 

My package was shipped on 24 October 2018. I had actually made the purchase the day before, so the seller was relatively fast in making the shipment.

When did the package arrive?

Since I was tracking my package as it made it’s way to Zimbabwe, I noticed that the package arrived at my local Post Office on 03 November 2017.

How long does it take to ship a package to Zimbabwe from the United States?

So, back to the question of shipping times from the United States to Zimbabwe using USPS, the answer is the following;

It takes around 14 days to ship a package from the United States to Zimbabwe using USPS.

What happened in between

A lot of things happened along the way, of course. The package actually arrived in Zimbabwe on 30 October, only 7 days after shipment. The rest of the time, it was being processed by ZIMRA and then making it’s way to my local post office. In my case, the local post office is next door.

Delays at the Post Office

That is where the major delay really set in. Some of the post offices in the country now use SMS to inform people that their packages have arrived. For some reason, my local Post Office, which happens to be one of the biggest, does not seem to have this facility.

Collecting my Package

So, I was supposed to wait till I got a slip in my letterbox before going to collect the package. However, since I was tracking the package, I went to collect my parcel on the 7th of November without waiting for the postman to deliver notification of it’s arrival. To be fair, I could have done this on the 3rd of November, which is why I am giving that as the day of arrival for the package. So, again, it takes around two weeks to ship a package to Zimbabwe from the United States via USPS.
