In order to port to Cell C in South Africa, prepaid customers need to take the following steps;
- First, you need to buy a Starter Pack from Cell C.
- Next, make sure that your new SIM card is registered (RICAed)
- From your old SIM, send a message containing the serial number for your new Cell C SIM to 0847678287.
- You will receive 2 messages confirming the process on your old SIM.
- After a while, your old SIM will lose network. You will now need to put the new Cell C SIM into your phone.
Porting a Contract Number to Cell C
The good news for contract customers is that they too can port their numbers to Cell C. The process is different from the one outlined above for prepaid customers. Contract customers need to notify their current networks that they wish to port to Cell C. This should be done within 31 days of the planned date of porting.
From there, you will then need to notify CellC about the impending date of porting. Simply visit the nearest Cell C shop to complete the process. Your number will be moved to Cell C on the night of your chosen date (after the 31 day notice period).
