How I lost 10 kilograms in 3 months

Okay, this may not sound impressive to some, considering the fact that there are so many articles floating around out there that claim to hold the keys to losing 10kgs in one week. To be frank, when I started on this journey, I didn’t quite know where I was headed. That was mostly because I had previously been the typical couch potato, till some nosy doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure. The rest, as they say, is history. So, how did I manage to lose 10kgs in 3 months?

How to lose 10kgs in 3 months

Today, I passed, with no small degree of trepidation, by the doctor’s office for my first weigh-in since the start of my weight loss journey. Imagine my surprise when I got on the scale and discovered that I had lost at total of 10kgs! In any case, here is how I managed to lose 10kgs in 3 months;

Exercising

The first change that I made after resolving to go on a weight loss journey came in the form of exercising 7 times a day. I admit to having become a bit obsessive in this regard. As already noted, I had previously been the proverbial couch potato, and had never carried out any exercises, other than eating, watching television and walking less than 100 meters per day.

Today, I make sure that I carry out exercises for at least 30 minutes every day. I still, however, lack variety in this regard, and mostly just spend the whole half hour jogging. This in itself is something of a miracle. Previously, I would have laughed had someone suggested to me that I would be able to run continuously for more than a single minute. I was that far gone!

Dieting

Dieting is another way through which I have managed to lose 10kgs in 3 months. For someone whose favorite channel on television is the Food Channel, this has been particularly difficult. I never knew before getting started that hunger actually gets felt somewhere on a belt that stretches around one’s ear.

The pangs of hunger are perhaps an indication of the fact that I have not been taking the correct approach, but what can I say. I am, after all, neither a doctor nor a dietician.

Reduce Cabs

The biggest challenge when trying to lose weight comes from having to cut out on those addictive carbohydrates. Today, I make sure that I only eat half of what is in my plate, and this has been greatly helpful during my weight loss adventure.

Increased Fruit Intake

The great thing here is that I actually love bananas, apples and other fruits and have not found it difficult to replace the cabs with these. Take today as an example. My lunch consisted of two apples and one plum. Again, my diet is not very scientific, but I have been able to keep going.

What do I weigh now?

Today, I weighed 80kg at the doctor’s. That’s down from around 90kgs 3 months ago. The doctor who treated me that time told me that I should, ideally, maintain a weight of around 78kgs. So, I still have around 2kgs to go before bringing out the champagne bottle.

Where has the weight been lost?

This is something that I have been asking those around me because other than the clothes that have now become a bit too large, I don’t quite see the parts on my body where I have been losing weight. They tell me that it has mostly been coming off of my tummy. I never would have suspected, from up here, that the thing had become 10kgs too big!
