How to Hide a Folder in Windows 10
Do you have some…ahem… funny stuff on your computer that you wish to keep from prying eyes? Or maybe you are just a private person? If yes, then this article is for you. Windows 10 provides you with a raft of tools that you can use to maintain some degree of privacy on a computer. One of these is by creating hidden folders in which to keep private and sensitive information. To be fair, the ability to create hidden folders has been around even before the release of Windows 10. It’s just that not many people ever really need to hide anything on their computers. So, how do you hide a folder in Windows 10?
How to Create a Hidden Folder in Windows 10?
To hide a folder in Windows 10, all that you need to do is the following;
- Go to the folder that you wish to hide.
- Right click on it and choose “Properties.”
- Select “Hidden.”
- Click on “Apply.”
- In the next dialogue box, make sure that “Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files,” is selected.
- Click on the “Ok” button.
That’s it. Now the folder and all the information that is contained therein will be hidden from prying eyes. Note that if you add files to a hidden folder at a later date, the files will not automatically be hidden. What you will need to do is unhide the entire folder, before going through the process of hiding it again.
If you are only interested in keeping the folder and not the files that are in it hidden, then you should choose to “Apply changes to this folder only.” When you do this, only the folder will be hidden, while the contents will be readily accessible through the search facility in Windows 10. That’s it. Thank you for reading. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have something you would like to say.
