TelOne DEOD may not have the most imaginative of names, but you get used to it after a while. DEOD was introduced a while back. While it’s clear that it hasn’t been making any waves, DEOD does have takers. And there are lot of curious folks out there, you included, who are wondering what the heck is TelOne DEOD. In any case, you have come to the right place. In this article, I will give you all the information that you need to learn more about TelOne DEOD.

What is DEOD?

DEOD stands for Digital Entertainment on Demand. It’s an offering from TelOne that allows people to access various digital entertainment programs via the internet.

Have you ever heard of Netflix? How about DSTV Now and DSTV Box Office? If yes, then you have a pretty good idea what DEOD is all about. Below, I unravel the name so as to give you a fuller explanation;

Digital

DEOD is digital. Remember those days when people used to rent movies and shows on VHS tapes? Those were the good old days. I remember there was a video rental shop in every location and families that were rich enough to own VCRs would rent tapes from there. Today, entertainment is mostly digital. What it means in this case is that you will be accessing it via the internet using your digital devices. Forgive the rather lacking definition, but bear with me. We access digital entertainment via our computers, phones and tablets.

Entertainment

Well, we all know what that is. If you don’t know what entertainment is, you are pretty entertaining yourself!

on-Demand entertainment

Here is the thing, if you are used to DSTV or ZBC TV, you will know that you have pretty much no control over the programming schedule. A show airs when it is scheduled, and when that is done, that is that. You will be lucky if there are repeats later in the day or later in the week. Anyway, that’s how traditional entertainment works. DSTV is no longer purely traditional, but that is another story. Again, bear with me the not too accurate example.

Now, on-demand television (entertainment) is a different ballgame. Instead of being tied to a television’s programming schedule, you can watch your favorite movies, sports and other shows whenever and wherever you want. The only requirement is that you need to have internet connectivity to stream whatever it is that you wish to see. You need internet for DEOD to work

Most on-demand programs work via the internet. You, therefore, need to have good internet connectivity for TelOne DEOD. With DSTV, you can also get on-demand programs via satellite. So, you can actually “rent,” a show whenever you wish via Box Office. You can also watch DSTV Catch Up shows if your decoder has PVR.

If you are worried about internet when using DEOD, TelOne itself provides pretty decent internet so that should be enough in any case. And TelOne internet is probably the cheapest that you are going to get anywhere in Zimbabwe. However, you can stream DEOD shows using any type of internet.

Is DEOD Free?

DEOD is not free. It’s a subscription service. We have already noted that you need internet to make TelOne DEOD work. If you really wish to enjoy yourself, you should subscribe for TelOne’s unlimited ADSL offering. That way you wont have to worry about running out of data while in the middle of watching your favorite show.
