Windows 10 Computer Brightness Settings
If you own a Windows 10 PC, you may be wondering how to adjust the screen brightness on your computer. One option is to use the keyboard to This is something that I do on a daily basis. I am one of those people who like to keep the brightness low on my computer. I own an HP G62 laptop, and it comes with a number of keys that make adjusting things like brightness rather simple. Here is how to change computer brightness in Windows 10 using the Keyboard;
Using a computer’s keyboard to adjust the brightness on your computer
The following are the steps that you need to take in order to adjust the brightness on your computer using the keyboard;
- Find the keys on your computer that meant for adjusting screen brightness. Usually there are 2 such keys. They are usually located at the top of your keyboard.
- Press the first key to reduce brightness and the second to increase the brightness. This works on some computers, including my G62 laptop.
- If this doesn’t work on your computer, then you need to first press the fn button before pressing the keys for changing brightness.
Why do I need to press the fn key?
Some of the keys on your computer’s keyboard will have 2 functions. As an example, the brightness down key on my laptop is also the F2 key. Fortunately, on mine, the brightness function takes precedence over the F2 function. I, therefore, do not need to press fn when adjusting the brightness on my Windows 10 computer. However, on most computers, the brightness keys are relegated to the second function. What this means is that users need to first press fn before changing the brightness in Windows 10 using the keyboard. However, that, in my view, is not such as big deal.
