How to Show the Percentage Read in a Book on a Kindle Paperwhite

As an avid Kindle Paperwhite user, one of the useful tools that I have gotten to rely on on my screen is the percentage read option. As a result, I always have the percentage  read displayed to the bottom right of my screen. I sometimes, however, encounter an issue where the show percentage read on a kindle Paperwhite display percentage read option disappears from my screen. Here, in any case, is how to show the percentage read in a book on a Kindle Paperwhite;

  1. Go to the book that you are reading
  2. Click on the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. You will now have the percentage read in book showing on the bottom right corner of your screen.
  4. There will be additional options highlighted below on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Other options

That’s how to show the percentage read in a book on a Kindle Paperwhite. Note that the percentage read is shown on the bottom right corner of the screen as we have already highlighted.

On the left corner, you have the option to choose between having the following displayed; the page that you are currently on, the number of minutes left in chapter, number of hours left in book and your current location in the book that you are reading.

You can cycle through these options to choose the one that you like by clicking on the bottom left corner of your Kindle Paperwhite.

Compact does not show the percentage read

One of the things that I have noticed is that if you choose the “Compact,” page Setting, the percentage read will disappear from your Kindle Paperwhite. I don’t know the reason for this. What I usually then do is zoom in or out on my screen using my two fingers. Once you do that, you automatically switch from whatever the default display option that you had chosen to the Custom display option. When this happens, the Kindle Paperwhite display percentage read gets back on my screen.

Why this setting is important.

This setting is, in my opinion, one of the most important on Kindle Paperwhite. Knowing the progress that you are making in your reading is useful. It allows you to plan your reading sessions, among other things. It’s also just a useful bit of information to have on your fingertips. With a paper book, you always have an appreciation of the amount of reading that’s left in a book because you can see the number of pages that are left. Hope, after reading this article, your Kindle Paperwhite will now display the percentage left in a book. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have anything to say.
